How Machining Company Netland Works Smarter with Keep

When similar jobs return to production, it is the small details that determine whether you get it right—or have to spend time on adjustments. At the machining company Netland, Keep from Ignos has become an important tool for reducing setup time, ensuring consistent quality, and making everyday work easier for operators.

Short summary (English)

Netland is a machining company that previously had no digital system for documenting job setups — knowledge was stored in operators’ heads, in machines, or based on experience.

By implementing Keep from Ignos, Netland now captures setups, tool selections, and best practices for every job in one place. This has reduced setup time, ensured consistent quality across operators, and made it easier for less experienced team members to set up jobs correctly.

Operations Manager Andreas Bang Halleland describes Keep as a cost-effective solution that quickly pays for itself — and highlights the close, responsive dialogue with Ignos as a key strength.

Keep is a cloud-based solution that consolidates job information, setups, tools, and experience in one place, easily accessible to operators where the work happens. The solution was developed by former CNC operators and is currently used by several machining companies.

When Familiar Jobs Still Took Unnecessary Time

In machining, there can be repetitions. Jobs may return, often with minor variations. In such cases, it is important that production becomes faster and more precise each time.

– Previously, Netland had no digital system showing how a job should actually be set up. Some information was in people’s heads, some was stored in the machine, and some was based on experience and intuition, explains Andreas Bang Halleland, Operations Manager at Netland.

Even when the job was familiar, some time could be spent on trial and error, adjustments, and tool selection.

– It was rarely exactly the same from one time to the next. Different operators could choose slightly different solutions, simply because there was no clear record showing what worked best the last time the job was performed.

Better Flow

Netland is a small and efficient operation, but precisely for that reason, the need for structure became evident early on.

– We quickly saw that we were spending unnecessary time searching for information. Even five minutes here and there adds up over a week. With Keep, everything is right in front of you. You don’t have to go searching, Halleland points out.

For Netland, it was not about implementing a cumbersome system, but about making it easier to work correctly, every time.

– When the information is concrete and accessible, even less experienced operators can set up the job correctly. This provides both better flow and better quality.

From Experience in Your Head – to Experience in a System

With Keep, Netland captures setups, tool selections, and experiences related to each individual job.

– Now you don’t need to remember everything yourself. If another operator is going to run the job next time, they can simply follow the setup stored in Keep. If you follow the setup, it works, says Halleland.

This has provided a completely different level of predictability in production.

– We spend less time on adjustments, and the results are more consistent from one time to the next. That is really the most important thing for us.

Cost-Effective

The impact of using Keep is clear.

– With proper use, you can recoup the cost several times a month. Just eliminating the need to search for information quickly delivers results.

The Operations Manager describes the solution as both simple and effective.

– For us, Keep hits the mark very well on price, functionality, and user-friendliness.

A Solution Developed Together with Users

Halleland also highlights the dialogue with Ignos as a strength.

– There is a low threshold for providing input. Ignos is open, generous, and listens to users. They incorporate feedback into their development roadmap, concludes Andreas Bang Halleland, Operations Manager at Netland.
